Description
If you’re like me and enjoy keeping things simple—but still delicious—you’ve probably wondered: Can I bake a cake mix in a loaf pan?
Ingredients
1 box cake mix (15-18 oz) — Any flavor works (I’m partial to spice or chocolate myself!)
3 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil1 cup water
9×5-inch loaf pan (or an 8×4-inch, but adjust baking time)
Non-stick spray or butter
Mixing bowl & whisk or electric mixer
Pro tip: If you’ve got extra goodies like chocolate chips or nuts, keep them handy. You can toss them in later.
Instructions
-
Preheat Your Oven
Set to 350°F (175°C).
-
Prep the Pan
Grease it well or line it with parchment paper. Trust me, nothing’s worse than a stuck cake.
-
Make the Batter
Mix the cake mix, eggs, oil, and water until smooth.
Don’t overmix—you want a nice, tender crumb.
-
Pour the Batter
Fill the pan about 2/3 to 3/4 full. That gives the cake room to rise.
-
Bake
Bake for 45-60 minutes.
Start checking at the 45-minute mark by inserting a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean or with just a few crumbs, it’s done.
Pro tip: If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with foil for the last 15 minutes.
-
Cool
Let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Slice & Serve
Enjoy as-is or dress it up with powdered sugar, glaze, or whipped cream.
Notes
Check Early: Every oven is different. Start testing at 45 minutes.
Avoid Overfilling: Stick to the 3/4 rule or risk a batter overflow.
Cool Completely Before Slicing: This keeps your slices neat.
Experiment! Toss in chocolate chips, lemon zest, or chopped apples.
